Kitchen Nightmares is Scary

I love watching shows like ‘Restaurant: Impossible” and Kitchen Nightmares because it’s so neat how they go in and totally transform failing restaurants and giving them a second chance at success.

However, it’s also really scary to see how so many restaurants conduct business in their kitchen.

I also wonder how many restaurants out there who aren’t on the show and who are running their restaurants like crap and sending out crap food.

Scary.

Anyway, I also notice that a lot of the restaurants on the show have servers and cooks who have been with the restaurant for some crazy amount of years. In some cases, decades and I’m like, “WHAT”

I’m definitely not a restaurant worker. I tried working at a Chili’s once but it didn’t go very well. It just wasn’t for me. Some people truly excel at it and that’s fine, but to do it as a career?

Who really wants to be a server their whole life?

I don’t know. I’m NOT judging, I personally just wouldn’t spend a decade that way.

However, my mindset of my generation is different than the older generation.

My mindset is, if I’m not happy, I leave to another position in which I AM happy.

That’s not so wrong, is it?

A lot of people don’t follow their passions, they don’t even try because they’re so focused on just paying the bills.

But there’s so much more to life than just paying the bills. I want to enjoy what I do and I’m going to do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Yes, if I have to be in a crappy job in the mean time to pay the bills, that’s cool. But I’m certainly not going to roll over and accept it, I’m going to fight for my dreams.

Anyway, I guess I get off on a rant. But every time I watch these shows, I see that these people started careers in the restaurant business for a reason; they were passionate about it!

And when you see them on TV in a terrible way, and someone like Gordon Ramsay or Robert Irvine, come in to help them turn things around, it’s a wonderful gesture!

So, anyway..back to watching Kitchen Nightmares.
